Chris HartsellPrior to joining the administrative team at the city, Chris worked in the healthcare industry for 13 years.  His positions included experience in Operations and Administration. Early in his career, Chris served as Assistant Director of Personnel at Bessemer Carraway Hospital (now UAB Medical West). He later became Administrator of Highlands Diagnostic Center, a multi-modality imaging facility and finally served as CEO at HealthSouth Metro West Hospital, a 319-bed acute care hospital.

In 2002, Chris was recognized in the “Who’s Who Among Healthcare Executives” in the Birmingham Business Journal. In 2003, Chris became and independent contractor with the Jefferson Metropolitan Healthcare Authority.  He provided operational, administrative and strategic support to Executive Administration at Cooper Green Hospital and most recently was responsible for operational oversight of Ambulatory Clinic Services and consultation with Executive Administration on contract negotiation, special projects, and strategic planning. Chris currently serves on Boards of two local organizations, The National Center for Sports Safety and The Metropolitan Birmingham Services for the Homeless. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Auburn University at Montgomery in 1994. 

He lives in Crestwood North with his wife, Dare, and two daughters, Hayden and Merritt.
