Detectives

This division is comprised of several units including Auto Theft, Burglary, Business Services, Family Services, Homicide, Project ICE, and Robbery.
Each unit has its own area of expertise.

For example, the family services unit is tasked with the investigation of juvenile misdemeanor cases, all missing person cases, gang activity and animal cruelty complaints. This unit is responsible for assisting victims regarding misdemeanor crimes committed by persons under 18 years or against persons under 18 years.

Family Services investigates:
•missing person cases involving persons of all ages
•complaints of cruelty against animals
•gang activity in the city

Another example of the division of services and responsibilities is the Homicide Unit. The primary duty of the homicide unit is to investigate all deaths except those that are due to industrial related accidents. This encompasses: murder, suicide, unclassified, and undetermined deaths. We also investigate: felony assaults, attempted murders, all police involved shootings, felony firearms discharging, and kidnapping.

The homicide unit is also responsible for investigating all juvenile and adult sex crimes.
