Attempted Murder Arrest
The Birmingham Police Department reports that a suspect has been charged in connection with a shooting investigation. The incident occurred on Friday, October 5, 2012 at approximately
10:00 a.m. at 1301 Monroe Avenue.
West Precinct officers responded to the incident location to investigate a report of a person shot. Upon arrival officers located the victim, who is the apartment manager, inside the location suffering from gunshot wounds.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue transported the victim to U.A.B. Hospital for treatment of her injuries. Officers also found that the suspect arrived at the location and rammed several vehicles with his van. The suspect also
damaged vehicles with a hammer prior to the shooting.
The suspect left the area prior to officer’s arrival and turned himself in to an officer at the City Jail Magistrate’s office. Officers also learned that the suspect was evicted from the apartments on Thursday,
October 4, 2012.
The suspect has been identified as: Clifford Cook, B/M, 72, Transient. An Attempted Murder warrant with a $60,000.00 bond has been obtained
against the suspect. The suspect is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail.
