Unclassified Shooting Death Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports that detectives are conducting an unclassified shooting death investigation. The incident occurred on January 21, 2014 at approximately 3:00 p.m., in the 2900 block of Avenue T.

The victim has been identified as: Derrick Greene, B/M, 27, of Birmingham, Alabama.

West Precinct officers arrived at the incident location to investigate a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located the victim lying on the curb suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived and pronounced the victim deceased on the scene. Investigators learned that a second shooting victim was taken to Princeton Hospital by private vehicle.

Investigators learned that both subjects were involved in a drug transaction before shooting each other.

There have been no arrests made in this case.
